Aaron is an experienced investment professional and economist.
He recently joined NZIER from the New Zealand Superannuation Fund, where he developed a number of value-adding investment strategies and was a member of the Fund’s Investment Committee. Aaron co-developed the models used to value global listed markets, inform investment hurdles, and stress-test the Superfund’s portfolio. He played a key role in developing and running the Superfund’s dynamic asset allocation strategy, strategic tilting.
Since inception this investment strategy has added over NZ$1 billion to Fund returns. He also helped develop the Fund’s Reference Portfolio governance benchmark and approach to adding-value, an asset allocation framework that is being increasingly adopted in New Zealand and abroad.
Aaron has a pragmatic, commercially-driven focus and a broad analytical tool kit that can be used to identify and tackle problems from a number of angles.
He enjoys developing frameworks for clients that support decision-making and adds value to their activities. Key areas of expertise include investment analysis and strategy, forecasting and modelling, international economies, macro policy analysis.
